The Lanterns!

Here it is then, after weeks of preparation by everyone involved. Last night’s Lantern Parade, on the Day of the Dead, in Sefton Park, Liverpool.

Movema lead off.

The detailed structural work in a skeleton’s head lantern!

Hundreds of lanterns made in community groups all over the city. Followed by great fireworks and the magic of fire in the black dark park. We watched enthralled. Elemental children all.

And at the end, stand around the ‘Light-house’ display of everyone’s lanterns, too enthralled to go home yet.

A proper festival, of the people, by the people. Well done Lantern Company, performers and sponsors. And well done the people of Liverpool.DSC09467 DSC09509 DSC09508 DSC09504 DSC09495 DSC09478 DSC09476 DSC09473Lanterns!03 Lanterns!04 Lanterns!05 Lanterns!06 Lanterns!07 Lanterns!08 Lanterns!09 Lanterns!10 Lanterns!11 Lanterns!12 Lanterns!13 Lanterns!14 Lanterns!15 Lanterns!16 Lanterns!17 Lanterns!18 Lanterns!19 Lanterns!20 Lanterns!21 Lanterns!22

Wonderful show ! I liked the owl very much but I was very taken with some of the weird half human sort of creations.
