Africa Oyé 2014

Best day’s weather we’ve had for years both days. I’d say something like 30,000 people in Sefton Park on Saturday and Sunday. The Busiest Africa Oyé I can remember. Here’s what it looked like.01

Let’s get going.

Some of the best of the weekend's music came from here at Afro Beat.

Then 4:40 on a glorious Sunday afternoon it’s time for the Roots Reggae, always a highlight of Africa Oyé, particularly when the weather’s with us. So now for the first time since they were here in 2004, it’s Misty in Roots.Africa Day204And Liverpool in its truly multi-cultural Africa Oyé glory crowds and bounces round the stage.Africa Day207Africa Day205 Africa Day206Africa Day208 Africa Day209 Africa Day210 Africa Day211Perfectly done.

  1. What a great time you had there Ron, it looks fantastic. I’m ashamed to say I have never ever been but it looks real fun and has its practical side as well, well done mate.

  2. Finally made the effort to attend this year. An early(ish) walk round the park & Lark Lane followed by a few hours chilling in the sunshine. A wonderful event. What else could you possibly wish for on a summer Sunday? (Just one problem….. first time I’ve had legs like a lobster in the UK since the summer of ’76)

    1. Good to hear from you when it’s not Africa Oyé Mike!

And your right, life’s hard up here. Leafy lanes, pleasant cafés, ambling around most Fridays. Just as well we’re so tough.
