The wildflowers are bloomong on Ducie Street. Ready to welcome the May Market this morning.
From 10:30 this empty street will fill up with people and stalls and stuff – to buy and to eat.
We’re holding the street markets here this year because this is the only one of the 4 Streets not on site yet.
We’re expecting it will go on site later in the year.
But for now it’s the perfect place to celebrate the regeneration of Granby 4 Streets.
Even the bluebells have turned up to join us.
In Liverpool’s most ‘transformational’ streets. It’s official.
So today when you come to the Market say hello and make sure you have a good look around too.
In Beaconsfield Street, the trees are blooming.
And Plus Dane are hard at work.
Lifting and shifting.
26 houses they’re doing.
Stripping right back.
And even rebuilding where necessary.
There’s rebuilding in Jermyn Street too.
Liverpool Mutual Homes here.
Doing 47 houses in all.
Big 3 storey houses these ones.
Some already finished and with new people moved in now.
Most still being worked on.
As springtime watches from the guerrilla garden on the corner.
Meanwhile behind the Jermyn Street scaffolding?
At the back of one of the houses in Cairns Street, is a little temporary workshop.
Where the Community Land Trust architects Assemble are at work.
On something architectural but unexpected.
To make things for the 10 CLT houses.
And a coming exhibition down at FACT.
Using rubble recovered from the skips in Cairns Street.
These will be fireplaces.
Ten warm hearths for ten new homes.
The Granby 4 Streets Community Land Trust, nearly home now.
And in the morning Ducie Street will burst into life.
So don’t miss the most transformational thing currently happening in Liverpool, the May Market at Granby 4 Streets.
From 10:30am ’til around 3:30pm, today Saturday 2nd May, in Ducie Street. Also there will be a special Writing on the Wall festival event “Speakers’ Corner” from 1:00pm Where local people who have been taking part in Community Land Trust workshops remembering the history of Granby will be speaking.
