“Get there early” Juliana had said “We’ll all be around Abercromby Square getting ready and that will be a great time for getting some good photographs.”
I’ve spent the day so far up in North Liverpool at the brilliant revival of the Walton Festival. Then early evening I get the bus into town, get off in London Road and walk across the top of the city centre to Brazilica.
Around the corner Brazilica is getting ready, as promised.
I came across Katumba just a few weeks ago at Africa Oyé, sent them the photographs I took of their brilliant performance, and have since met with Juliana to talk dreams and possibilities – more on that coming soon. This evening I’m here just to be a part of everything. The photographer in Katumba’s social enterprise gang, which also includes people from Movema and Capoeira For All.
Let’s have a look round.
Time to brief the children from Capoeira For All. Before we set off all the bands get time for a warm up, so here goes Katumba. Ready now.Time for Movema? Let’s go, Brazilica moves off! Some friends are filming us.
A great day in Walton and at Brazilica. See what happened earlier the same day at the Walton Festival, a great summer’s day in Liverpool 2016.
