“Raindrops on snowdrops and warm woolen mittens…
From ‘My Favourite things’ (sort of)
Yes you can nearly sing along with this blog post to one of my favourite tunes from ‘The Sound of Music.’ Which would be a splendid thing, of course. But really the point of writing this is to show you the snowdrops. Photographed first thing today, heavy with raindrops when I first arrived at the allotment for a morning’s university work.
I thought seeing them might lift your heart like they lifted mine, first thing this morning. These have been wet days at what we still call The Sunlight Garden, even in this greyest of midwinters. You can see the flooding we’ve had and the size of the fires Abi and I have been having to get going to stay warm and work recently in the cold and wet
But today we got snowdrops, heavy with raindrops. To lift our hearts, tell us that spring is on the way and help good work to get done. Like it usually does, here at the University of Liverpool’s Sunlight Garden campus.
