In early 2017 Sarah and I decided to walk all the way along the canal from Liverpool to Leeds. So in twelve separate walks that year, which you can read below, we did much of just that. And in the doing found we were up to much more than walking along a canal. Because in getting to the walks and travelling over a thousand miles around the north-west, mostly on public transport, we found walking through and getting to see and experience both our industrial history and the well-being and otherwise of our wider north-west home today.

After the first twelve instalments we took what turned out to be a three year break before the virus year of 2020 suggested we return to our canal for the safely distanced ‘Hello again’ walks also below, and then begin completing our journey to Leeds. Which will be coming soon.
