Walking to The Egg

Walking to The Egg - 10A work meeting for 11:30 in the morning is called off because someone’s sick (get well soon Ann Marie x). So what to do? Shall I fill in the time before my next appointment at 2 in the afternoon with other work or shall I go for a walk in the early spring sunshine? Easy choice, I put my boots on and set off.

My eventual destination will be The Egg in Newington.

My eventual destination will be The Egg in Newington.

So I walk in that general direction, with detours.

Days and sudden spare time like this don’t occur so often that they can be ignored. Living, as I still do, with the attitude of what would I choose to do if I had a year left to live? For all of 2014 I wrote a series of blog posts about this and it quietly changed my life. Read my main conclusions here if you like.

Talking Liverpool: Welsh Streets and Homebaked

The Welsh Streets01As you will have well gathered by now, I love to talk about Liverpool in all kinds of ways. The parts of the place, the theory and practice of the place, the many joys of my place, my home.

So today I was up and out early for a day of Talking Liverpool.

Hoping these words on the back of the Bluecoat wouldn't define the day.

New Year 2016

Ducie Street - hoping to see this on site before long.

2016? Sort the empty homes, stop food waste, lean on each other, create our own way through this & sort the planet too? Yes, it’s a big ask.

But it’s what I wish for. If I learned one thing from 2015 it’s that we are best leaning on each other, helping each other. Not waiting for governments to change but doing what we need to and what we can now. Now is the time of our lives.

Love and respect to everyone featured on this blog in 2015.

North Liverpool: What’s your Beautiful Idea then?

I wrote about this a few weeks ago when we launched the, well, idea. £600,000 raised and matched from a community car park on Priory Road near Liverpool FC’s stadium, to be reinvested straight back into good ideas for North Liverpool. Ideas that have to work as being socially good, as well as being good and sustainable enterprises.BeautifulSo this is just a short reminder via the Beautiful Ideas Co to add your idea to the many already sent in before it’s too late.

First a short film tour of North Liverpool. Starring Homebaked and their pies and with me talking: Continue reading

The Beautiful Ideas

How do we turn needs and ideas into sustainable enterprises for North Liverpool?
Beautiful Ideas - 1As I mentioned in my previous post on here Thursday evening and Friday this week were all about North Liverpool for me. Working here with The Beautiful Ideas Co. It was great.

After an afternoon on site at Granby 4 Streets I got on the 19 bus (not that one above) to Stanley Park. Thursday was a cold clear evening and I arrived at the park to see, all lit up and sparkling, one of the most beautiful sights in all of Liverpool.

I was well early for what I was there to do, so spent a good while outside taking these photographs. No apologies whatsoever then for showing you a good few of them. Our North Liverpool gem. Continue reading
